Senior Counsel

Alex J. Hartzband

Alex Hartzband is the Firm’s Senior Counsel.  Alex has broad experience representing individuals on a wide variety of employment issues that arise during the employment life cycle as an advisor, in negotiations, and in litigation.  

As Senior Counsel, Alex litigates discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation claims, as well as wage-and-hour disputes.  As such, he represents individuals with employment-related claims in federal and state court, before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, state and local fair employment practices agencies, and in arbitration.  Alex has broad experience representing clients both before and throughout every stage of litigation, including drafting complaints, conducting discovery, drafting and arguing motions, conducting and defending depositions, negotiating settlements, and trying cases.  He also handles compensation disputes, negotiates severance agreements, and conducts mediations.  In addition to representing individual claimants, Alex has experience litigating class action claims.  Alex also counsels select employers regarding employment law compliance, drafting policies, and effectively navigating workplace issues.

Before joining Grubin Law Group, Alex was a partner with Faruqi & Faruqi, LLP, where his practice also focused on employment law.  Previously, he practiced employment litigation at Wigdor LLP.  While in law school, Alex was a law clerk at Levy Ratner, P.C.

Alex is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and Urban Law Journal.  Alex earned his undergraduate degree from The George Washington University.
