Scott G. Grubin

Scott Grubin is the Firm’s Founder.  He brings a unique multidisciplinary background to representing clients which includes positions on Wall Street as a senior human resources executive and in-house counsel.  He represents clients across a wide variety of industries.  

By applying his deep employment law experience together with his insight gained as an in-house attorney and human resources executive, Scott has forged trusted advisor relationships with both his individual and employer clients resulting in better and more effective client outcomes.

Scott’s representation includes negotiating employment contracts and severance agreements for public and private company C-Suite and senior executives and other professionals as well as providing them advice and counsel as they move between competitors.  He also handles a wide variety of disputes for these clients concerning breach of contract, restrictive covenants, compensation, and discrimination.  Scott also represents clients under internal investigation including issues related to Form U-5 registration termination. 

He has served as trial counsel in both federal and state courts as well as arbitrations before FINRA, JAMS, and AAA. He represents clients before the EEOC and state and local fair employment practices agencies. He also represents clients in mediations.

Scott is well-versed in employment and business issues and serves select employers as employment law general counsel providing advice and counsel regarding compliance with employment laws; preparation of policies, offer letters, and agreements to protect company assets; and conducts sexual harassment and discrimination awareness training.  He also provides day-to-day counseling involving all aspects of the employment life cycle and handles related litigation.  

Before founding the Grubin Law Group, Scott practiced employment law with Barton LLP and Wigdor LLP; and was a Managing Director at Knight Capital Group where he was head of Human Resources for Global Fixed Income. Scott’s nearly 15 years of financial services industry experience also includes 11 years at Merrill Lynch where his roles included in-house employment lawyer for its investment banking, sales and trading, and research businesses, Head of Human Resources for Global Research as well as Head of Human Resources for the combined Bank of America Merrill Lynch Legal Department. Scott also held a leadership position in human resources at the global advertising firm Omnicom Group.

Earlier in his career, he was an in-house employment lawyer at global manufacturer GAF Corporation and a litigator with a Connecticut-based law firm.

Scott is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law where he was a member of the Syracuse Law Review.  He is a graduate of Clark University.
